"SHIT, It's Cold!"
The End

The following link is to the coolest Christmas jingle in a while -
if it doesn't get you in the mood for Santa Claus, you're hopeless.
The song was originally recorded by the Drifters in 1954.
Pump up the volume - these reindeer sing. Enjoy!

Ice, Fires, Downed Power Lines and Trees, Snow

Hey everyone I'm finally back. We have had a real mess here. We're not the only ones though. Many towns in Kansas experienced a devastating ice storm on Dec. 10th and many towns have been declared disaster areas by our governor. The night of the ice storm, I had my scanner on and I heard of lots of trees and tree limbs down and of fires. Many power lines came down. It was a very serious situation. The next day, I noticed our power line out back of our house was just hanging there. It was caught on the shed and was frozen to it. We called the number of the public utilities and told them we were afraid of fire and they asked if we still had electricity. We told them we did so they just said they would put us on the list with all the others needing to be fixed. I'm just glad we didn't have a fire! Our lights flickered a few times and we lost power a couple of times but it always came back on. I was constantly keeping an eye on that wire though cuz it really worried me. We had a lot of tree damage and it knocked the cable wire down as well. It was hell trying to take the dogs out. I would only take them out in the front yard as it was too unsafe out back. On Friday the 14th,I was going to make some meatloaf for supper. I had just taken the dogs out and when I got in, someone knocked on the door. It was the head guy of the public utilities and he informed us that we had to leave our house because of a possibility of fire. I told him we had been worried all week about it and told the people at the public utilities office about it and they just said they would put us on the list. He informed us that we were calling the wrong number. He said it was in the paper and I informed him we don't get the paper. Anyway, he told us we would have to find a place to stay cuz they were shutting our power off in 10 minutes. I told him we couldn't get out in that short of a time so he gave us an hour so we scrambled around trying to get everything rounded up to leave. He also told us we had to have an electrician fix the problem before they would hook us back up. Real nice guy huh? He is an ASSHOLE and a lot of people in town are very upset with him. Anyway, I called the motel and we got a room up there for the night. It was horrible cuz it was so hard to get Ray moved and then we had the dogs too. We got an 8 inch snow storm that night. The next day we moved up to my sister's place and stayed there until Friday the 21st. The electrician got the work done and they turned our power back on for us. We just got our cable and internet service back today. It has been a real mess around here. They have brought crews in from all over to help clean up this mess and to restore power and cable service to everyone. There is a lot of tree damage. I think everyone in town had major tree damage. There is a house a couple of blocks from us where the whole tree split and fell all over the yard. It's just a good thing it didn't fall on the house. It has been just awful around here and it's going to take a long time to get everything cleaned up. We had another snow yesterday which amounted to about 2 inches and they are calling for more snow this week. This is going to be pretty expensive for us as we have to pay the electrician and we need to get a plumber here as well. When we had to leave, I turned on the faucets so the pipes would not freeze and now I cannot get the bathtub faucet to shut off. It is running in a stream so will have to that that fixed. My girlfriend took some pictures of some of the damage so I will show you what some of the town looks like. It is so good to be back here. I missed all of you so much! I thought of you all everyday. I was going crazy not being able to blog! Here are the pictures my friend took.

How To Have Fun In The Workplace

1) Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.

2) Find out where your boss shops and buy exactly the same outfits. Wear them one day after you boss does. This is especially effective if your boss is a different gender.

3) Make up nicknames for all your coworkers and refer to them only by these names. "That's a good point, Sparky." "No, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with you there, Cha-cha."

4) Send e-mail to the rest of the company telling them exactly what you're doing. For example: "If anyone needs me, I'll be in the bathroom."

5) Hi-Lite your shoes. Tell people you haven't lost them as much since you did this.

6) Hang mosquito netting around your cubicle. When you emerge to get coffee or a printout or whatever, slap yourself randomly the whole way.

7) Put a chair facing a printer. Sit there all day and tell people you're waiting for your document.

8) Every time someone asks you to do something, anything, ask them if they want fries with that.

9) Encourage your colleagues to join you in a little synchronized chair-dancing.

10) Put your trash can on your desk. Label it "IN."

11) Feign an unnatural and hysterical fear of staplers.

12) Send e-mail messages saying there's free pizza or donuts or cake in the lunch room. When people drift back to work complaining that they found none, lean back, pat your stomach and say, "Oh you've got to be faster than that."

13) Put decaf in the coffee maker for three weeks. Once everyone has withdrawn from caffeine addiction, switch to espresso.

 My Christmas Present From Ray

I am one happy camper right now! Friday afternoon the DHL guy delivered two packages to our house from Dell. Ray said it was my gift for Christmas. He wanted me to open it to see if I liked it and if we may need to return it. Well to my surprise, he had ordered me a flat screen monitor, a 19 inch one. That is bigger than his. It is soooooo nice. I absolutely LOVE it!!! I now have a gateway computer with a Dell monitor. He couldn't afford a computer right now but that's ok. I love the new monitor and now we have so much more room on the table with two flatscreen monitors. He also got me a long speaker that hooks on the bottom of the monitor. It is so nice! I love Ray. He is so good to me and I love my new present!! If I don't get anything else for Christmas, it doesn't matter. This present is the best! Hope you're all having a good day. It is really cold here and very icy. I had to take the dogs out earlier and brrrrrrr is it cold! I have a little contraption that I put over my shoes though, so I don't fall on the ice. It is a cleat thing with elastic that fits on your shoe. It really is a good thing cuz I have fallen many times on the ice and I would hate to break something. They are calling for more ice this week. Damn I wish winter was over and it really hasn't even begun. Guess we got a lot of crap to look forward to. Stay warm my friends. Love ya!
