 A Helpful Hint

Free Cursors
Tick Removal
(I received this in an e-mail and thought it was a good idea since ticks are pretty bad when the weather is nice so this is good advice and sounds simple too.)

A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- and it really works!!
I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.
Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"

 Forrest Gump In Heaven

The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper.

St. Peter said, "Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you.We have heard a lot about you I must tell you, though, that the plac is filling up fast, and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven."

Forrest responds, "It sure is good to be here, St. Peter, sir. But nobody ever told me about any entrance exam. I sure hope that the test ain't too hard. Life was a big enough test as it was."

St. Peter continued, "Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions.

First: What two days of the week begin with the letter T?

Second: How many seconds are there in a year?

Third: What is God's first name?"

Forrest leaves to think the questions over. He returns the next day and sees St. Peter, who waves him up, and says, "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers."

Forrest replied, "Well, the first one, which two days in the week begin with the letter "T"? Shucks, that one is easy. That would be Today and Tomorrow."

The Saint's eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, "Forrest, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess I did not specify, so I will give you credit for that answer. How about the next one?" asked St. Peter.

"How many seconds in a year? Now that one is harder," replied Forrest, but I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve."

Astounded, St. Peter said, "Twelve? Forrest, how in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?"

Forrest replied, "Shucks, there's got to be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd... "

"Hold it," interrupts St. Peter. "I see where you are going with this, and I see your point, though that was not quite what I had in mind....but I will have to give you credit for that one, too. Let us go on with the third and final question. Can you tell me God's first name"?

"Sure," Forrest replied, "it's Andy."

"Andy?" exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated St Peter. "Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?"

"Shucks, that was the easiest one of all," Forrest replied. "I learnt it from the song, "ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN."

St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates, and said: "Run Forrest, run."

Give me a sense of humor, Lord.

Give me the ability to understand a clean joke,

To get some humor out of life,

And to pass it on to other folks.

 Hi Everyone!

Hey guys sorry I haven't been answering your comments much lately or visiting your blogs much. Ray and I have been spending some real quality time together which we have needed and we've been getting out some and enjoying the beautiful weather. I have to go to work but when I get home, I am going to try and visit blogs and answer comments.
I just saw all the comments left on yesterday's blog about the war in Iraq. Thanks so much for the comments. I do pray for our troops to come home safely and soon!
Wasn't that horrible about the shooting at Virginia Tech? I read on the computer this morning that 30 people were shot and the shooter among them. What a tragedy. I think that's worse than the shooting at Columbine a few years ago. My thoughts and prayers go to all the families. That is so very sad!!
Well I must get my coffee drank and get Mitzey in and get ready for work, so I will try and catch up with you all later. Love you guys!

 Just My Opinion

We are supposed to write a little something today about our thoughts of the war in Iraq. I personally, was against going there in the first place. We went there on misinformation and America has been lied to from the beginning. We have many women and men who have died. The day of September 11th was a horrible day, one none of us will ever forget. I know I won't for as long as I live! We were told that Osama Bin Laden and Al Quida was responsible. Then why I wonder, did we not go after him. Instead we get information of weapons of mass destruction being in Iraq and we end up in a war there. We have been lied to so much, I don't believe anything our government tells us. We have been there all these years and people are dying everyday. I don't think it's any safer there now than it was. I certainly don't feel any safer here. We still have terrorists among us in the United States that could very well strike anyday. That does not make me feel safe. I heard one night on a news program where they were talking to an Iraqi citizen and they said they don't feel any safer either. In fact they wish we would leave their country. Saddam Hussein is no longer there. They have a new leader. We should leave and we should leave soon! That's another thing they have lied to us about, about how long our men and women would be there. They keep extending the time and I just hope to god, it does not become years like VietNam! I live a few miles away from an Army base here in Kansas.(Fort Riley) There have been quite a few soldier's from there sent to Iraq. It is the home of the "Big Red One". There have been quite a few die too which is very sad and many are just young kids! A friend of mine was there not long ago to get her ID card and she noticed soldiers who will be going to Iraq, getting things in order to go.They were getting their finances and such in order in case they don't return. My friend said she walked out in tears feeling so bad for these soldiers. Here is a poem that is appropriate I think for today.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
he hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

~Author Unknown~

Remember, it is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier Who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag, and
Whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Please pray for our men and women currently serving our country and pray for their safe return home!

Well now you have my opinion of the war. I'm sure there are some who will disagree and that is OK. We all have our own opinions. There is nothing wrong with that.
